Secret Lairs - "Subterranean God"

For this project we had to create a digital set based on our given character. I got subterranean god, and created a lair for a secretive pimp-esque "God" (A charismatic man whom women looked up to in awe). The set was also inspired my Greek and Roman mythology.

Below is my character bio, and my final presentation which includes concept art and orthographics.

It's the eyes that get them first, the eccentric beady eyes. Does he ever blink at all? There's too much going on in his vast mind to blink.  Theories way above your intellect, plans way beneath your moral standard. Or maybe it's just the cocaine. And what a ridiculous statement, the son of Hades- the son of Hades indeed! Here? In a city where if you can't be good, you better hope to god you're bad.
It's a cold place, a lot of cold people. Late night neon lights and the warmth of another shot are what keep the forgotten women of this city going. Then,- "Hello Princess, I'm the god of the underworld". Don't lie, you'd follow him to. Strictly speaking I suppose that's not entirely false. His reputation proceeds him, an underground network of sinister no faces, less of a mafia, more of a.....cult. With a fittingly masterful cultivator at it's head. An "all round business man", "buys and sells bars", not that he'd tell you what's inside them that he's trading so successfully.
"You've been wronged sweetie" slurred words have never sounded so definite, "it was all his fault" a seedy stroke on the arm had never felt so meaningful, "You're part of the family now." One swig from his chalice, One phonecall made with an overly theatrical press of a button. Another scumbag gone without a trace. Another women with a stamp on her neck. Swings and roundabouts, Snakes and laggards.

"Shit Got Small" - Full 3D Animation

My last project was a full 3D animation based around the life cycle of a fern. I enjoyed researching writing the script based around the San Francisco hippy scene, and it was great hearing my script being realised by a professional actor. Below is my animation and the 'Art Of' Including the script and artwork leading up to it.

"Page Down" - Animatic Project

This in an animatic I did for a project in which we were given 3 words to make an animation about.
I was given:

Rollerskates
Photobooth
and Juggler

Below is the 'Art Of' Publication demonstrating the story behind the animation and the process I took.

Paper Cutout Animation

For my A Level Final Piece, i created an old-style atmospheric 2D animation based on a poem I'd written, and some paper pieces I'd created using a laser cutter.

These laser cutter pieces, each with a background using different media, were inspired by Rob Ryan. The pieces illustrate a poem I wrote (below). It is important to me to tell stories in my work.

In a dark unthought world
Lived a speckle of pink,
She was the last of her kind
Infact the last of anything.

She'd been alone for so long
That all voice had turned to thought
All dark was now light,
And all long was now short.

She'd had time to think
About every second,
For every moment she's lived,
She had a view and a reckon.

But set aside all these thoughts
And she was pretty content,
Despite the contrast between
What she'd said and what she'd meant.

After all the time past
She only had one regret,
She wished she'd eloped
With that blue that she'd met.

She had not one clue
In a far corner of this land
Lived the other last remaining
A mysterious man

There, lived a speckle of blue
That had been just up her street
In the time when it was relevant
That she had hands and feet.

She'd always always thought highly
Of his humorous ways,
And a loving disposition
With the smile on his face

But the time was never right,
Which caused upset all  round,
Until he disappeared,
Gone,
Without a sound.

He to thought of her,
The mistakes that he'd made,
But he'd since then forgotten,
No such thought passed his brain.

Since then gone insane,
An internal explosion .
The disastrous result
Of giving up hope when
It was of imperative importance
To keep mentally stable
But sadly for all
He was entirely unable,

But she KNEW there must be more
To this sad endless state
Of reminiscing, and thinking,
Hope,
        Wish,
                Wait.

The more she looked out of her eyes
The more she knew how to see
The more she learnt about the lock
The more she knew she had the key

She had returned to our world!
After thirteen long years!
But it was hardly worth it
When the doc confirmed her worse fears.

Here is the final stop-frame animation;

Network She Article

In 2011, I had my article about 21st century views on homophobia published in Network She Magazine.

Soundscape Project

On my course we did a project on creating sound for animation, where I learnt the importance of sound in film. Here is my Artaud inspired final piece animatic, the sound and illustrations in which were created by me based on the painting "The Funeral".
