Paper Cutout Animation

For my A Level Final Piece, i created an old-style atmospheric 2D animation based on a poem I'd written, and some paper pieces I'd created using a laser cutter.

These laser cutter pieces, each with a background using different media, were inspired by Rob Ryan. The pieces illustrate a poem I wrote (below). It is important to me to tell stories in my work.

In a dark unthought world
Lived a speckle of pink,
She was the last of her kind
Infact the last of anything.

She'd been alone for so long
That all voice had turned to thought
All dark was now light,
And all long was now short.

She'd had time to think
About every second,
For every moment she's lived,
She had a view and a reckon.

But set aside all these thoughts
And she was pretty content,
Despite the contrast between
What she'd said and what she'd meant.

After all the time past
She only had one regret,
She wished she'd eloped
With that blue that she'd met.

She had not one clue
In a far corner of this land
Lived the other last remaining
A mysterious man

There, lived a speckle of blue
That had been just up her street
In the time when it was relevant
That she had hands and feet.

She'd always always thought highly
Of his humorous ways,
And a loving disposition 
With the smile on his face

But the time was never right,
Which caused upset all  round,
Until he disappeared,
Gone,
Without a sound.

He to thought of her,
The mistakes that he'd made,
But he'd since then forgotten,
No such thought passed his brain.

Since then gone insane,
An internal explosion .
The disastrous result
Of giving up hope when
It was of imperative importance
To keep mentally stable
But sadly for all
He was entirely unable,

But she KNEW there must be more
To this sad endless state
Of reminiscing, and thinking,
Hope,
        Wish,
                Wait.

The more she looked out of her eyes
The more she knew how to see
The more she learnt about the lock
The more she knew she had the key

She had returned to our world!
After thirteen long years!
But it was hardly worth it
When the doc confirmed her worse fears.
